Starting in May 1940, because of high wear, the rubber tires on the Laufrollen (roadwheels) were widened from 75 to 95 mm.

Starting with the trial Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.G with 5 cm Kw.K. L/42 in June 1940, due to interference with the gun recoil guard, the Luefter (vent fan) was relocated to a new position toward the center of the turret roof.
